SPORTS- November 10th
Sports: McKenzie Clark and Emily Edwards
This weekend was a big win for Elbert County sports. Not only did the football team shut out Monticello with a score of 47-0, our Raiders and One Act team also had big accomplishments. Both of these teams have worked hard their whole season, and it was no surprise they brought home a win.
If you didn’t already know, our male Raiders are state champions! The Raider team traveled to Spalding High School on October 30th. The team consists of twelve male Raiders ranging from freshmen to seniors. The male team placed first in the 5K team run, first in the fitness challenge, second place in the tire flip, second place in the cross country rescue, second in the rope bridge, and of course first in state. Logan Lyon stated, “I’ve worked to be named a state champion for four years and it feels amazing to have reached my goal my senior year.” The Female team placed fourth in state. They also placed 3rd in tire flip, 3rd in cross country rescue, and 3rd in fitness challenge. They competed great and brought home a lot of trophies for Elbert County. It was a long day for the teams, but we are very proud of them!
The ECCHS one act team also competed in Eaton, GA. The team performed the play Reunion on Gallows Hill. They competed in AA and placed 4th in region. Madison Clements and Faith Greer were selected as the All-Star cast members. The One Act team did amazing and we are proud of their performance especially considering how hard the acting in the play was.
All these teams have worked very hard in their season this year. Both the Raiders and the One Act team’s hard work has been showcased through their endless accomplishments. We hope to see them only strengthen from this season on. Here at ECCHS, we are very proud of the Raiders and One Act’s accomplishments!
