Clubs- Skills USA
SkillsUSA – Amanda McCollough
The time has finally come to review the SkillsUSA Club! SkillsUSA is a new club to the school and it was brought here by the lovely Mrs. Johnson. If everyone does not recognize the name it may be because she is new to the high school this year, but I am sure everyone will recognize her daughter’s name-- Claire Johnson. Claire is a dear friend of mine and just happens to be the President of SkillsUSA.
Now, this is not a club new to the world, just new to ECCHS. By definition, SkillsUSA “is a United States career and technical student organization serving more than 395,000 high school, college and middle school students and professional members enrolled in training programs in trade, technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations.” When talking to Mrs. Johnson, I was informed she agrees with this definition and is very excited for this club to start. I may be impartial to her answer since I am involved with SkillsUSA, too, but I have to say I also cannot wait to begin.
Mrs. Johnson was kind enough to take time out of her day to share about SkillsUSA and give me a quote. “Since we are all new to SkillsUSA and our chapter is just getting started, we really want to visit a few SkillsUSA competitions to see what everything is really about. I know I and everyone else involved are very hopeful and eager to get this club off the ground. We wish anyone in CTAE pathway courses to consider joining us!”
