Clubs: FCCLA: Ellie Jourolmon
Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization that provides personal growth, leadership development, and career preparation opportunities for students. The club’s mission is to promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. They focus on multiple roles of family member, wage earner and community leader, members develop skills for life through: character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation. The theme for this year is “Be Inspired by FCCLA as you lead others, develop new skills, explore career opportunities, build strong families, and give back to your communities. Shine in red. Make a difference. Inspire!”
The 2017-2018 FCCLA club consists of 30 members. The advisors of FCCLA is Mrs. April Eubanks and Ms. LeeAnne Cordell. The officers of the club include President Zoe’ Harris, Vice President Jamara Rambert, Secretary Jade Moss, and Event Coordinator Aleigh Robertson. According to Zoe’ Harris, FCCLA is “the best club I have ever been a part of. My favorite part is going to convention and competing in STAR events.To become a member you have to turn in an application and turn in your dues of $15.”
FCCLA does many service activities. The club does a fall and spring service project. This year they play to do a socktober event. The meetings are on the second tuesday of every month. The next upcoming meeting is October 10th. At the meeting, they will do an update on their fall community service project and go over the star events and making sure the people have started theirs. Their spring event has not yet been decided, but the past year it was awareness of colon cancer. FCCLA is a great way to help and participate in the community.
