SPORTS- Fall Semester in Review

Softball - Our Lady Devils Softball team began their season with practice starting this past June. Then they began playing 4 summer ball games per week throughout the whole month of July. During this time, they attended FCA camp in Columbus, GA. The Lady Devils finished their season placing fourth in the region. After region, they proceeded on to the first round of state facing Rockmart High School, coming out with a loss. Madelyn Libby and Sydney Blackmon were chosen as Honorable Mentions for the 2017 8AA All-State team. Sydney Blackmon, Madelyn Libby, and Emily Starrett were named 1st team All Region, while Allie Dunn and Baylie Bialas were named Honorable Mention All Region. All were chosen due to their outstanding effort put forth this season.

Cross Country -  The ECCHS cross country team traveled to various counties throughout the season and competed against several different team. Top finishers throughout the season for the girls were Madison Brown, Tykea Grey, and Anna Kubas. The boys top finishers were Marion Saponari, Gavin Brady, and Justin Bastyr. Overall, both teams had a great season with the girls placing 3rd in region, then proceeding to state and the boys placing 5th in the region.

Football - Our “Boys in Blue” started their season with a scrimmage at Westside High School. The Blue Devils had a tough lost at westside, but came back to town and worked harder than ever. Their hard work paid off by coming in 2nd in 8AA region. The boys then went to state playoffs and made it to the second round. They played Hapeville High School in the second round falling with a score of 54-7. Overall, our boys had an extraordinary season, with many players coming in as 1st & 2nd team All State and 1st and 2nd team All Region. Daniel Lavender was named Defensive Player of the Year, and Tay Huff was awarded Player of the Year at the Fall Sports Banquet in December.
