SPORTS- December 8th
Sports: Allison McGarity and Lily Johnson
Welcome back from the break, ECCHS! While we were gone, the football team lost during the second round of playoffs against Hapeville Charter School. This team was a really tough opponent, and our Devils gave it all they had. Basketball and wrestling seasons are in full swing, with many events for everyone to go watch.
On Thursday, November 16th, both varsity basketball teams took on a scrimmage against Calhoun Falls in the Inferno. After each quarter, the score keeper reset the score with it being a scrimmage. Cheerleader Emerson Brown said, “The first game of the season was a success. Both varsity girls and boys teams took wins. AJ James also dunked. Overall, I think both teams are going to be very prepared for the season, and I can’t wait to see how it goes.” All cheerleaders and players seem very “pumped” for the 2017-2018 season. To add a little fun, the ECCHS Student Section will be participating by dressing up in different themes for most all home games. The schedules with the official themes for each game can be found around the school or by following the student section on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram!
The Wrestling Team also had some successful matches this season. They wrestled East Jackson and Walnut Grove on November 14, with a resulting in a Blue Devil Victory. Over the break, there were tournaments on November 18th and 21st. Our Blue Devil Wrestlers are still undefeated!
ECCHS Students, Faculty, and Staff are more than welcomed and encouraged to cheer on our basketball and wrestling teams! Try to support your fellow athletes as they compete for and represent Elbert County High School. Be ready to watch our Blue Devils do some great things! Also, if there is anything we left out, please let us know and we will add it in next week’s addition.
