Ray City, GA - The Telly Awards has named Wayne Pearson’s Ultimate Outdoors, produced by W.P. Productions, as a winner in the Nature and Wildlife category of the 35th Annual Telly Awards. The program was recognized for a conservation piece on the environmental efforts of Southern Company. With nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, this is truly an honor.
The award-winning entry was one of twelve conservation pieces W.P. Productions produced on behalf of Southern Company in 2013, and featured the efforts of Southern Company subsidiaries Georgia Power and Southern Nuclear, in partnership with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, to relocate Gopher Turtles to an enhanced habitat near Plant Vogtle. All twelve conservation pieces aired in Wayne Pearson’s Ultimate Outdoors and can be viewed under the conservation tab on www.uoutdoors.tv. W.P. Productions is currently working twelve additional conservation pieces for Southern Company, which will air in the 2014 season of Ultimate Outdoors on Pursuit Channel, debuting Thursday, July 3rd at 11pm ET.
As a premiere energy company serving the Southeast through its subsidiaries, Southern Company values its commitment to the environment and the communities it serves. The partnership with Ultimate Outdoors helps bring awareness to conservation efforts Southern Company leads in its service territory.
The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 and is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and online commercials, video and films. Winners represent the best work of the most respected advertising agencies, production companies, television stations, cable operators, and corporate video departments in the world.
A prestigious judging panel of over 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of The Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents. The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work – entries do not compete against each other – rather entries are judged against a high standard of merit. Less than 10% of entries are chosen as winners of the Silver Telly, our highest honor. Approximately 25% of entries are chosen as winners of the Bronze Telly.
“The Telly Awards has a mission to honor the very best in film and video,” said Linda Day, Executive Director of the Telly Awards. “W.P. Productions’ accomplishment illustrates their creativity, skill, and dedication to their craft and serves as a testament to great film and video production.”
“We are extremely honored to have won a Telly Award for our conservation piece,” said Wayne Pearson, Executive Producer of Ultimate Outdoors. “We’re equally, if not more honored to work with Southern Company on sharing their efforts in preserving and creating wildlife habitat. They are by far the most corporately involved company in the Southeast, if not the United States, collaborating with National conservation groups throughout their entire footprint. If we put the same dedication and work ethic towards our television production as Southern Company does towards the environment, this won’t be the last Telly Award W.P. Productions brings home.”
This 2014 Telly Award is the third for W.P. Productions, having previously won two Telly Awards in the Travel and Tourism category for their showcase of the amenities and activities at Tallahatchie Hunts in Northwest Mississippi, as well as Rio Brazos Outfitters in New Mexico.
