Discover the South’s most spectacular scenery and the ultimate outdoorsman’s experience all in one place. Located in the Black Belt Region of Alabama in Union Springs, Sedgefields Lakes Plantation, is now opening its doors to the public for the first time in 2015. Our mission is to become the hunter’s dream destination while still holding to the beauty and southern hospitably from days gone by. Here we pride ourselves on historic background and family traditions with upscale accommodations. L.B Maytag, an avid hunter, purchased the land in the late 1920’s. This plantation became a very popular place for bird hunting and prestigious field trials, which are still held today. Currently we are offering whitetail hunts to the first 20 applicants for the 2015-2016 hunting season.
We have initiated an intense wildlife management program over the last 8 years. The result is an abundance of bucks in the 140 and above class with a 4-1 buck to doe ratio that provides the ultimate rattling opportunity. The late timing of our rut allows us to offer trophy buck hunts from January to mid-February when most other states have closed their hunting seasons. And we didn’t stop there, we offer true wild quail hunting and released bird hunts, we also produce the largest flocks of turkey that you will ever see, and manage the 60 acre Miss Jenny’s Lake stocked with trophy largemouth bass.
